A couple of years ago I went to the funeral of my upstairs neighbour who sadly passed away from a heart attack after fighting problems with his heart for a year. Needless to say, funerals are always very sad occasions, but somehow it's where I seem to learn the biggest lessons.
Now anyone who has ever been to a black person's funeral knows they aren't usually small! It's like a fashion parade with great soulful music and lots of tears as well as laughs as well as some home hitting life lessons. Anyway, the Pastor gave a sermon which inspired me into taking action and control of my life.
He spoke about the time being now and not waiting for tomorrow, at the time I was pondering many decisions of my own and couldn't make a decision about what it was I wanted to do. But somehow when he spoke the words, it rang true for me, and I was motivated just to do it! And I the very next day, I rang up the Coaching Academy and began my training to become a life coach.
It prompted me to think about all the things I had been putting off and procrastinating. I rang my Aunt, and I told her I loved her. I spend time with my dad who I hadn't seen for about a month! Most of all, it made me look at the things I value in my life and those things that I'm incredibly grateful for that I take for granted every day.
I can only talk for myself here, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had troubled times in their life. When you are going through it, it seems like the weight of the world is on you, and you will never find a way out and the from the darkness. When you least expect it a come a ray of light can come a brighten your day.
It can come in many forms, and you sometimes aren't even aware that the light is even there. I guess the moral of the story is that yes you will have dark times in your life and things will be hard sometimes. You will probably go through many, many ups and downs just as I have. But among all of that, you will find a way forward one step at a time. Maybe a hand will reach out to help you or a sign that leads you in a completely different direction. Maybe it may just be the sunrise that will light up your day. You just have to be open to it.
What is your light? What direction is, it leading you? What are you putting off till tomorrow that you can do today?
